The smell of fresh fish hangs in the air, a sailboat mast towers over the counters, and in the display, bright shrimp on petrol-colored platters catch the eye: Anyone entering Augsburg’s city market can hardly miss Martina Schindler’s stand. The family-run business, Forellenhof Schindler, has been selling fish and delicacies from its own production here for 45 years. From herring salad and seafood to red tuna, Schillerlocke, and char—the selection is vast. And it’s perfectly showcased on PricoPlex’s “ Display trays und platters .”

Craftsmanship and Quality from the Region The Schindler family business is headquartered in the town of Eppishausen in the Unterallgäu region, the geographic center of Bavarian Swabia. In addition to the farm store, the company’s own smokehouse is the heart of the Forellenhof. This is where the fish are smoked and processed. “We put our hearts and minds into our work,” says Schindler, describing the family business’s philosophy. Regionality is a top priority here: what begins with local freshwater fish continues with the company’s partners. “We sometimes forget what great businesses we have right here locally,” says Schindler, referring to the collaboration with PricoPlex. Just like the Forellenhof, the tray manufacturer on nearby Lake Ammersee also relies on genuine, regional craftsmanship.
New Bowls for a Modern Counter
In addition to her farm stand, Schindler has a presence at various markets in the region. Every Friday, she sells her products at the weekly market in Schwabmünchen, and four days a week she can be found at the Augsburg city market. When Schindler remodeled her sales stand in Augsburg in 2025, she was looking for new tray solutions. Some of the models she had been using no longer met the operational requirements. Some warped in the dishwasher or broke easily.
At a trade show in Bremen, Schindler was introduced to PricoPlex’s products. A representative subsequently visited her at her stand in Augsburg and presented various trays as well as possible combinations. “That was a huge help—when you see the trays in person, it’s even easier to visualize how to stock the counter with them,” Schindler recalls. In this way, the counter echoes the maritime theme that is reflected in the design of the entire booth.

“When choosing new bowls, it was especially important to me that they look high-quality and, above all, hold up in everyday use—meaning they don’t break easily and still look good even after being washed multiple times,” Schindler explains, describing her criteria for selecting new bowls. After all, the day-to-day demands of selling fish put a strain on the material: To meet strict hygiene regulations, the trays go through the dishwasher countless times, and the material has to hold up to a lot. In addition to the quality, she’s particularly impressed by the trays’ design. She especially likes the option to use two-tone models. The combination of a dark exterior and a petrol-blue interior showcases the fish specialties particularly effectively. At her sales counter, she uses various trays from the following series: FLOW, CUT, SWUNG and GRACE as well as Decorative platters and Step displays , on which the fish is attractively presented while remaining optimally chilled on ice.
